Therapy is a process of understanding; it assumes that every person has the capacity to know themselves better. With this in mind, I deploy curiosity, compassion, and deep listening to help you identify the behaviours, feelings, and thought patterns that are your sources of strength, as well as those that might be causing unnecessary suffering.

Therapy is also a process of change. My role is to help you notice when and where change emerges. I act as a kindly and reflective companion, reinforcing the meaning, beliefs, and values that positively affect your mental and emotional wellbeing. All of this occurs in a supportive, respectful, non-judgmental, and empathetic environment.

I focus on common challenges in today’s world, such as anxiety, joylessness, and loneliness. Often, these challenges can be traced to the traumatic effects of loss, the dynamics of early childhood, and the stresses of modern life. The good news is that negative effects don’t always have to be felt, and carried, in the same way. Instead, by deploying therapies such as Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, and Existential Therapy, it is possible to uncover new sources of meaning, a sense of equanimity, and joyful engagement with the world. In my own experience, both professional and personal, I’ve found that this joy can come from familiar places – in play, and the company of others – and also in the discovery of meaning in the unexpected.

“It is a joy to be hidden, but a disaster not to be found.” Donald Winnicott
